Teeth Whitening
Teeth Whitening in Kirkwood, MO
Many products and techniques are available for patients who want to achieve a brighter smile. With so many options available, it can be difficult to choose the method that is right for you.
The best way to begin any teeth-whitening regimen is to schedule an appointment at our Kirkwood dental office and talk to Dr. Thomure or Dr. Grybinas about the in-office professional whitening and at-home whitening options we provide.
Professional Teeth Whitening Options
Sinsational Smile® in-office whitening uses an LED light to activate the pre-filled silicon tray for a quick but effective 20-minute treatment. The soft silicon tray allows flexibility for the jaw to relax, which provides you with maximum comfort for the short 20 minute whitening. Included in this treatment is a take-home pen for easy maintenance on the whole mouth or isolated, hard-to-reach places.
Opalescence® whitening gel is a highly effective take-home whitening treatment in the form of custom-made trays and gel to use as needed. At-home professional tray whitening generally takes ten to 14 days, although you may notice results in as little as three to five days.
Regardless of which whitening treatment you choose, we will work with you to customize a treatment plan that identifies how often whitening should be performed and determine any necessary post-op care to avoid risk or complications.
Over-the-Counter Teeth Whitening Options
As with any teeth-whitening regimen, it is wise to consult with a dental professional before use.
Teeth-whitening strips are thin, flexible plastic (polyethylene) strips with a film of hydrogen peroxide on one side. The whitening agent is applied by placing the strips across your teeth and gently pressing them to ensure contact with all your teeth. Teeth-whitening strips are typically worn for 30 minutes a day, twice a day.
Paint-on teeth whiteners consist of a gel that’s applied to the tooth using a small brush. Paint-on whitening gel hardens into a film that coats the teeth, and dissolves in the mouth.
Whitening toothpastes affect surface stains and will mildly lighten your teeth. However, unlike the materials used in professional whitening procedures, these products do not lighten the actual color or shade of the tooth.
What makes teeth whitening at Kirkwood Station Dental a bright idea?
We not only provide whitening treatment — we also offer patient education. Dietary habits have a huge effect on your teeth, and we want to provide you with the education and resources needed to take control of your health.
We discuss hygiene habits, and how foods and drinks we consume affect our teeth in so many ways. We provide education on which foods and drinks we recommend, foods and drinks to avoid, toothpastes, and habits to develop for the brightest, whitest smile possible.
